FAQs

Nothing - They are the same thing. Partner / Partnership Visa is simply the unofficial name, what expats most often call it. Formally, this is the Temporary Residency Registration Certificate of an EU Family Member. According to Immigration Law, any partner / spouse in a permanent relationship with an EU citizen can apply for this status.

The Certificate of Temporary Residency as a Family Member of an EU Citizen is valid for 3 years for a partner of the EU citizen. For a spouse of an EU citizen, residency is valid for 5 years.

When filling out your residency application form, all fields in the application are important. Be extra careful when completing all fields, and note that most fields are mandatory. Further, failing to provide the required information can lead to delays in processing your file or rejecting your application entirely.

Yes - Even if your partner is not your legal spouse, you must include your partner’s information in the “Spouse Information” section.

It’s necessary to include information on your parents’, especially the mother’s maiden name. This is in order to generate your birth number (rodne cislo) with your residency file.

Applicants must apply in-person at the Czech Immigration Registration Office, or by hiring a Pexpat’s representative. Pexpats can represent you during the entire process, and even handle everything 100% remotely thanks to Power of Attorney.
