Freelancer visa for US citizens

If you’re interested in living in the Czech Republic for more than 3 months and working as a freelancer, you should apply for a long-term visa. Pexpats help you with the entire process.
We prepare all the paperwork for your visa as a freelancer in the Czech Republic and support you through every step of the process.   1. Passport*
  2. Proof of your legal accommodation (e.g. rental contract, ownership deed, or proof of accommodation form from the legal property owner)
  3. Two (2) ID passport photos**
  4. Proof of funds: bank account statement showing a balance of at least 149 000 CZK (approx 6 500 USD)***
  5. An affidavit confirming you have not committed any crime****
  6. Health Insurance*****
  7. A business address in the Czech Republic - If you need help, we can set up a virtual business office for you!
*Your passport must have been issued in the last 10 years, be valid for at least another 9 months and contain 2 consecutive blank pages.
**Photos should be in colour and standard EU ID-sized (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) with a white background.
***Please provide an original or scan issued by your bank with a stamp and signature. This document may be a letter.
**** You must sign this affidavit at a US embassy. If you’re in Prague, please make an online appointment at the US embassy. They will provide you with the proper form to fill out and sign. Be sure to note your appointment time as the embassy doesn’t send email confirmations.
*****If you don’t have Czech health insurance, we’re happy to arrange it for you.
Note: If you’re not currently in Prague, we’ll guide you through these steps virtually)
  1. Get in touch with us to launch your visa application process (Note: Visa applications must be lodged at a Czech embassy and appointments book out fast. We, therefore, suggest you send us your full name and date of birth at your earliest convenience so we can book the best appointment for you);
  2. Send us a scan of the proof of accommodation or rent contract;
  3. Meet at our offices. Please bring any documents you need to provide;
  4. Sign the power of attorney for our arrangement of your Czech freelancing visa;
  5. We register your Czech freelancer’s trade license and put together your complete visa application;
  6. You collect your application package from us and apply for your visa at the Czech embassy;
  7. Your visa is ready;
  8. We come with to register it at the Czech Foreign Police;
  9. We activate your freelancer’s trade license and register it with all the tax and insurance offices;
  10. You’re good to go as a freelancer!
  11. Come to our office to collect your documents and we’ll provide you with full instructions.

  3. We will send you the power of attorney (no need to authorize the signature) and Affidavit form (your signature should be authorized at the local notary office) with your details;
  4. Sign the power of attorney for our arrangement of your Czech freelancing visa package and send it together with an Affidavit and bank letter to us by post;
  5. We will arrange bank letter translation;
  6. We register your Czech freelancer’s trade license and put together your complete visa application;
  7. You collect your application package from us and apply for your visa at the nearest Czech embassy;
  8. Your visa is ready!
  9. We come with to register it at the Czech Foreign Police;
  10. We activate your freelancer’s trade license and register it with all the tax and insurance offices;
  11. You’re good to go as a freelancer!
  12. Come to our office to collect your documents and we’ll provide you with full instructions.
