The administrative fee for your first Czech trade license registration is 1,000 CZK when you apply in person or by post.

If you complete the registration electronically through the official electronic process, the fee is reduced to 800 CZK.

Adding another trade later costs 500 CZK, or 400 CZK electronically.

KEY FACT

The registration fee is not charged separately for every trade you register at the same time.

If you register multiple trades together in one submission, you pay one registration fee

How much does it cost to register your first trade license?

The first registration costs 1,000 CZK, or 800 CZK electronically. Adding another trade costs 500 CZK, or 400 CZK electronically.

The first-registration fee is the same whether you register a free, craft or tied trade.

IMPORTANT NOTE

For foreigners, the lower online fee does not always make online registration the better option.

You will still need to provide original documents or complete additional verification at the Trade License Office.

What if you register several trades at the same time?

If you register several trades together, you pay the registration fee only once.

The same applies if you submit a trade registration and concession application together. Under Item 24 of the Administrative Fees Act, you pay one fee at the highest applicable rate

How much does it cost to add another trade later?

If you add another trade later, the fee is 500 CZK for a standard submission or 400 CZK electronically. This is different from adding fields of activity within an existing free trade.

How much does a concession cost?

Your first concession application costs 1,000 CZK, or 800 CZK electronically. An additional concession costs 500 CZK, or 400 CZK electronically. Applying for a concession follows a different process from registering a trade.

How can you pay the Trade License Registration fee?

For a standard Trade License Office application, the official Trade Licensing Register lists payment by:

  • cash or payment card at the municipal Trade License Office;

  • postal order;

  • bank transfer.

For electronic applications, you receive payment instructions during the online process.

Available payment methods can depend on the Trade License Office.

Is the Trade License Registration fee refundable if the application fails?

Usually not just because the registration was unsuccessful. The fee is charged for processing the trade registration or concession application, not for guaranteeing approval.

The Administrative Fees Act contains specific rules for when a paid administrative fee can be returned. If your registration has missing documents, the first priority is to correct them within the deadline given by the Trade License Office.

LEGAL REFERENCE

Act No. 634/2004 Coll. — § 7(1)(a)

An administrative fee is not refunded simply because the requested act was unsuccessful where the fee is charged for accepting an application or notification.

Are these the only costs of getting a trade license?

Not necessarily. The amounts above are government administrative fees. Depending on your situation, separate costs can include:

  • foreign documents;

  • official Czech translations;

  • apostille or legalization;

  • professional qualification documents;

  • Business Address Consent or a separate business address;

  • representation if somebody registers on your behalf.

These are separate costs, not additional government registration fees.

If you use a lawyer, accountant or business registration agency, you will normally pay a separate service fee. The price depends on the provider and what is included.

A professional registration service can include more than registering the trade license itself. Depending on the provider, it can also include registrations with the Tax Office, Czech Social Security Administration and health insurance company, VAT registration when required, and setting up payment instructions for monthly social and health insurance deposits.

PEXPATS EXPERIENCE

Pexpats Trade License Registration includes the government trade license registration fee, so the 1,000 CZK administrative fee is not charged separately on top of the Pexpats service price.

The service also includes the related registrations required for the client’s situation and payment instructions for ongoing deposits.

Our support continues after the registration is completed, and clients can contact us with questions about invoicing, VAT, taxation and other matters related to their self-employment without an additional consultation fee.
