FAQs

According to Czech Immigration Law, all non-EU foreigners on a Czech Employee Card must announce a change of employment to MOI. To do this, they should submit the official Change of Employment Application Form at least 30 days before the change happens. The application technically requests permission for the change of employment. This means that if you leave your current job and are starting another, you must announce this at least 30 days before starting the new job. You will then need to wait for permission from MOI to legally make that change on your Employee Card.

To apply for a change of employment, you will need: 1) the Official Change of Employment Application; 2) a job termination contract from the previous employer; and 3) your new work contract that fulfills all conditions within MOI rules. All of these documents you must submit together to MOI, and then wait on their decision before beginning your next employment.

The Immigration Office has a deadline of 30 days to process applications for change of Blue Card employment in the Czech Republic.

Foreigners without access to the labor market must notify MOI of any change of employment within 60 days of losing employment. In other words, you have 60 days to announce the change after your previous work contract ends. Also, in this case, the foreigner’s next job post must have a vacancy number older than 30 days.

Foreigners without free access to the labor market can only take job posts with vacancy numbers older than 30 days. This requires the employer to publicly announce the job, which provides time for Czech / EU citizens to respond first. If there is no interest in the vacancy after 30 days, the employer can then hire a foreigner under the older vacancy number.
